The most recent dietary guidelines for Americans provide a science-based blueprint for a healthy diet and give positive advice on eating more nutrient-dense super foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains and low-fat and fat-free milk and milk products. The Guidelines Committee has increased the recommendation for dairy foods from 2-3 servings in the 2000 Dietary Guidelines to 3 servings of low-fat and fat-free dairy foods every day.
USDA’s new food guidance system illustrates the nutrient-dense foods you should be getting each day. Plus, the interactive Web site lets you personalize the Dietary Guidelines to your own tastes and nutrition goals.
