Ingredients

12 Fluid ounces

  • 3/4 cup and 2 tablespoons sugar, granulated
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

 

72 Fluid ounces

  • 1 quart and 1 1/4 cups sugar, granulated
  • 1 ½ quarts water
  • ¼ cup and 2 tablespoons vanilla extract

Instructions

Stovetop Directions

  1. Place the granulated sugar and water in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat.
  2. Stir occasionally to keep the sugar from sticking to the bottom. Bring the mixture to a simmer, 2-4 minutes or until the sugar has completely dissolved. Remove from the stovetop and add vanilla extract.
  3. Cool the syrup and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

    Critical Control Point (CCP): Hold and serve at 41°F or below.

    CCP: No bare-hand contact with ready-to-eat food.

 

Microwave Directions

  1. Place the granulated sugar and water in a microwave-safe container.
  2. Heat for 2 minutes in the microwave. Using potholders, safely remove the syrup from the microwave and stir. If the sugar has not dissolved, continue to heat in 30-second increments until done.
  3. Add vanilla extract. Cool the syrup and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

    CCP: Hold and serve at 41°F or below.

    CCP: No bare-hand contact with ready-to-eat food.

Tip

  • Store the simple syrup in the cooler for up to one week. Ensure that the container is clean and airtight.
